Emotional day with highs, lows, joy, and gratitude; support uplifts Owen and family.

Today was a mix of emotions, as many days have been since Owen’s diagnosis. It's been a journey of highs and lows, but we've found moments of pure joy and immense gratitude amidst the challenges.

Waking up in our own beds this morning was a blessing. Something about being home brings comfort and peace despite the exhaustion that lingers in our bones. It's as if our bodies have been waiting for this moment to finally relax. However, our homecoming also highlighted the chores that awaited us. The house needed attention, but the fatigue made it hard to muster the energy to start cleaning. However, visiting Melissa’s parents' house provided a much-needed change of scenery and a chance for Melissa to catch up with her parents.

The highlight of our day, though, came from an unexpected source of support. Shannon, Owen's daycare provider, and the other kids' parents compiled a giant care package for Owen. The generosity and thoughtfulness of this gesture touched us deeply, bringing smiles and tears of joy. It was a powerful reminder of the kindness surrounding us, even in our most challenging moments.

Owen himself had a day of ups and downs. His energy levels were notably low, a common theme these days, yet the comfort of his home seemed to bring him some happiness. His typical 3am request for pizza was amusing and heartwarming. Later, a visit to his grandparents' house started with a bit of cold-shoulder hesitation. Owen gradually warmed up, especially around his Papa. As he opened the gifts from daycare, the joy on his face and giggles was precious, though his energy dipped again when we were ready to head home. It's hard seeing him so drained, wanting to be close yet struggling to engage how he wants to.

Today was also a day of learning. We were reminded of the vast network of love and support that surrounds Owen. From the thoughtful care package to the individual gifts like the crocheted turtle from Melissa's parents' neighbor's granddaughter (phew!) and the unique presents from Melissa's Mom's cousin Rosey, it's clear Owen is deeply loved. Each gift, from toys, coloring books, blankets — even a candy pooping dog — was a testament to the efforts to bring a smile to Owen's face.

We face challenges daily. Today was no exception, with Owen's moodiness and insatiable appetite presenting hurdles, especially at his grandparents' house. His reluctance to nap, despite evident tiredness, tested our patience. Yet, we found ways to adapt, focusing on the small victories and moments of connection, however fleeting they might have been.

Our gratitude today is immense. We're thankful to be home, for the incredible support from Shannon and the daycare families, and for every person who's shown love and care towards Owen. This network of support keeps us going, reminding us we're not alone in this fight.

Looking ahead, we're determined to make tomorrow better. A cleaning service is scheduled to give our home the attention it deserves, a small but significant step towards normalcy and comfort. It's a reminder to take care of ourselves, too, to recharge and regroup so we can be the best parents for Owen.

Today, like every day, was a mix of challenges and blessings. But through it all, we're reminded of the strength of our little boy, the love that surrounds our family, and the hope that tomorrow brings. We face this journey together, armed with love, resilience, and the support of our incredible family and friends.
