Family warmth and Owen's progress shine, amidst hospital visits and playful moments.

Today was another day marked by the warmth of family and the steady progress of our brave little fighter, Owen. Grandma Myrna arrived first thing in the morning, her presence always brings a sense of calm and joy into the room. Grandpa Ed followed not long after, and due to the hospital's visitor policy, they had to take turns visiting Owen. It felt a bit like a game of musical chairs, but we all managed to find the humor in it.

Owen's spirits were high today, especially during his time in the playroom with Myrna. The endless toys there never fail to amaze him, and watching his eyes light up with each new discovery is a sight we'll never tire of. The day continued with more play, this time with Papa. They played bingo, and Owen won two games! Hearing his name announced on the hospital TV was a thrilling moment for him. "He's famous now" we joked, basking in his happiness.

Among the prizes he won was an Arthur plush, which quickly became a cherished companion. His room floor was a canvas of imagination as he played with his Paw Patrol toys and the new ones gifted by Myrna's side of the family. It was heartwarming to see him so engaged and joyful despite the circumstances.

Grandpa Ed took Melissa out for lunch today. It was a much-needed break and a chance for some one-on-one time with her dad. They talked for few hours, and she was relieved to have that reprieve. He left around 3 pm, but not before Owen said a heartfelt goodbye.

Nana, deciding to stay the night, took turns with Melissa to catch some rest in the hospital's less-than-comfortable accommodations. Despite the discomfort, being there for Owen is all that matters to us.

Overall was relatively laid back, yet it brought significant news. The oncologists are preparing to discharge Owen for outpatient treatment. This means we'll be moving to either the Ronald McDonald House or a hotel close to the hospital, ensuring we're just a short drive away for his lumbar chemotherapy appointment on Friday. The thought of this treatment is daunting, with its risks, but we're hopeful for a smooth process and minimal side effects.

Dad had to return to Eugene to attend to his business. It's a tough balancing act, maintaining a semblance of normalcy while our world is turned upside down. Owen misses him terribly, often asking, "Where's Daddy?" It's a reminder of the sacrifices we're all making, each in our way, to navigate this journey. Dad's work, though a therapy and distraction for him, is his way of providing for and protecting our family. It's a difficult situation, but we understand and support him.

Today, amidst the challenges, we found moments of joy, love, and hope. It's these moments that fuel us, reminding us of the strength we have as a family. As we prepare for the next steps in Owen's treatment, we hold onto the belief that together, we can face anything.
